Symbolism of Playing Cards

Classic playing cards are composed of four symbols representing the four seasons ♥️♦️♠️♣️.

♥️ and ♦️ symbolize the bright part of the year, while ♠️ and ♣️ represent the dark part.

Each of these symbols is made up of a scale of thirteen cards, representing the number of lunar cycles in a year.

There are 52 regular cards in total, which corresponds to the number of weeks in a year.

If you add up the values of the numbers on all the regular cards, you get 364. Each deck of cards also contains one joker, which counts as the number one, so together with it, you get 365, representing the number of days in a year.

Every fourth deck of playing cards contains two jokers, symbolizing every fourth leap year.
